This past summer, my wife and I went to Italy and rode our first cruise trip. We initially wanted to visit several European cities but being new to these places, we decided to take a cruise instead that would bring us to several cities of several European countries. So we picked a western Mediterranean cruise.
We flew to Leonardo da Vinci International from Pearson International then shuttled to the port city of Civitavecchia (50 minutes north-west of Rome). We checked-in at the port. The check-in process took about 20 minutes (including waiting inline and photo op). We were issued our cruise card. In a short while, we were walking on the side of this huge cruise ship.

The food at the buffet was excellent. They have tons of food selections. I think the food at the buffet was better than the one in the restaurant. We have an inside cabin (no windows). It was well kept by our cabin keeper. We also didn’t mind having no windows because we were in our cabin only when we slept. Otherwise, we made used of the open-air public places and lounges of the ship.

It was a 7-day cruise. It brought us to three ports in Italy (Civitavecchia, La Spezia, Naples), Cannes in France, two ports in Spain (Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona). We had an excursion that brought us to Milan (although we already pre-booked to visit that city after our cruise).
