It’s the most wonderful time of the year… Yes indeed. It is the time when almost anyone you meet has that expectation of being happy again for whatever reason.
…It’s Christmas time again, the days seem to fly fast.
As if we have just celebrated Christmas just recently…
No, I’m not into translating Filipino Christmas songs into English. People from all walks of life look forward to Christmas for all kinds of reasons. But the first Christmas was not like how we celebrate it today. Nobody was even aware of the blessed birth of Jesus until host of angels invited shepherds nearby, and a star directing wisemen from the East. The lives of these people who witnessed this miraculous event were changed.
I think this is the significance of Christmas. It is not what we get out of this season but what we can give and experience in this most celebrated holiday.
And just like the words of a popular Filipino Carol (read above), let us make the Spirit of Christmas be a part of our everyday lives – giving, sharing, and being sensitive to the needs of other people.
