Coldplay at Gillette Stadium

Fall 2016, Kyle mentioned that Coldplay will have a North American tour in 2017. We got two driving distance venue where we can catch the concert; Gillette Stadium in Foxborough and Centre Bell in Montreal. After verifying the dates, we opted for the concert in the New England Patriots home stadium.

Summer 2017 – We drove to Boston with overnight stop in Maine’s capital Augusta. We had a chance to visit the State Capitol.  We originally planned on staying in Boston but after comparing the cost of hotel and transportation, we booked a hotel in Brockton, MA where we can drive and park in the stadium.

We drove early to Gillette Stadium to be able to get a decent parking space. By the time we got there 30 minutes before front-act performance, it was already busy but we were able to park quickly. We make our way to the food area of the stadium complex as people are starting to crowd the stadium entrance. I’m just imagining what its like during an NFL game, it must be like a carnaval.

After we ate our supper at the food alley, we made our way to the entrance of the stadium. The security check was like the TSA. As we were walking on the ramp to get to the upper bowl, we were given watch-like (LED blinkers) bracelet to put on. Before we found our seats, the front act has started. There were two performers before the set was prepared for Coldplay. At this time, it was almost 9 pm.

Coldplay started with the words of Charlie Chaplin’s “…a wonderful adventure.” Our bracelets began to glow red to the beat of “A Head Full of Dreams”. There were fireworks during this performance. The two-hour concert was filled with their popular songs from all of their albums. Their concert was nothing like their performance in Super Bowl L. It was a fun and enjoyable concert.

It was almost 1 am when we got back to the hotel. The following day, we drop-off Kyle at Boston’s South Station to catch the train to Logan International Airport. He was flying to London in the evening. We left Boston after lunch and drove home.
