Last summer, my aunt who lives in Dumaguete City (Philippines) came to visit her brothers and sisters here in Canada. We had the opportunity to host her and my mother during the summer months. One of my cousins (and her family) came to visit the Maritimes during that time.
My daughter “toured’ them around the historic downtown. We had a chance to take the boat ride on Saint John River.
My aunt (who was several years younger than my mother) stayed most of the time in Ontario where her siblings were. They flew here in Fredericton for their brief visit. Later in the summer time, she and my mother also flew to Calgary where my brother met them on their way to the Banff National Park in Alberta and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
While they were with us, we had a chance to retrace our family tree. It was a fun (and hilarious) exercise. At one point, several relatives were connected with us via all forms of online chat platform (Facetime, FB Video, etc.). We were not able to resolve everything but seeing one another try to grasp the little information that made sense was an amazing experience.
It is because of this that I’m starting to create a Family Tree for family. I will trace back to my grandparents and continue on.
